I used to end my days on the couch, watching a series and scrolling on my phone at the same time (!!). And let’s be real, that still happens now and then, especially when I’m home alone with the kids or just not in the mood for anything else.
But most nights? I choose something that truly nourishes me.
These days, my favorite way to end the day is with a calming evening walk. It helps me unwind, reconnect with myself, and process the day in a soft and mindful way. It’s such a simple ritual, but it’s become my most sacred one.
I go for my evening walk no matter the weather but there’s something extra magical when the sunset puts on a show. Still, I also love walking in the quiet darkness of winter. Every season brings its own special energy.
Sometimes I listen to a podcast, but usually, I pause it halfway through and just let my mind rest… or have a little talk with myself. Tonight, I left my headphones at home and spent the walk visualizing my next book and wow, that gave me so much inspiration.
It’s so important to spend time with ourselves without constant input, no screens, no distractions just space to hear our own thoughts, reconnect, and feel what’s really going on inside.
Back home, I almost only use candlelight in the evenings to help my system wind down and prepare for sleep. It creates such a cozy and calming energy. I love lighting a candle, burning some incense, and sipping a cup of tea. It soothes me deeply.
When I do this, it’s so much easier for me to wind down and feel gratitude for the day. It helps me fall asleep with a softer feeling and wake up in a better mood too.
This is my invitation to you
~ How do you spend your evenings?
~ What small rituals could you add to end your day in a way that truly nourishes you from the inside out?
Let this be your reminder:
Your evening routine is your soft landing after a long day. A time to slow down, come home to yourself and create the energy you want to wake up with.
I love everything about this. I’ve started paying more attention to my evenings too, even if it doesn’t always look the same. Some days I just need to crash on the couch, but more and more I find myself craving a slower wind down. A walk, a candle, some journaling, even just five quiet minutes makes a difference. I’ve had a solid morning routine for a while, but I’m still working on creating something similar at the end of the day. Thanks for sharing your ritual, it reminded me how much the little things matter.
